Biographers' Club Best First Biography Prize

The Biographers' Club is delighted to announce the shortlist for the £2,000 Best First Biography Prize 2009:

The Last Englishman by Roland Chambers (Faber & Faber)
Dear Fatty by Dawn French (Cornerstone/Random House)
This is Not About Me by Janice Galloway (Granta)
Love Child by Allegra Huston (Bloomsbury)
The Magnificent Mrs Tennant by David Waller (Yale University Press)
Mary Tudor by Anna Whitelock (Bloomsbury)

This is the first year the Biographers' Club is awarding a prize for the Best First Biography.

Our judges, Philip Ziegler, Rebecca Fraser and Brian MacArthur were extremely impressed with the quality of the submissions, and look forward to announcing the winner at our Prize Dinner on Thursday 22 October at Banqueting House, Whitehall.
The after-dinner speakers are Amanda Foreman and James Naughtie.
