HOW TO RUN A MARATHON

The Millennium Institute in Mairangi Bay was the perfect place for Lisa Tamati’s How to Run a Marathon event last night. Around 120 runners and fans listened to Lisa talk about her life competing in ultra-marathons around the world, and soaked up the tips and training advice she has learned over her 13 years as a runner.

After an introduction by Richard Lindroos, the adidas Auckland Marathon race director, Lisa answered questions from the crowd before signing copies of her new autobiography ‘Running Hot’. Paper Plus Glenfield were on hand to sell copies of the book and most of the audience had their copies signed by the Taranaki-based athlete.
My spies tell me it was an inspiring night with the accomplished desert runner, who is gearing up for her run up the length of New Zealand starting at the end of the month. You can follow Lisa as she makes her way up the country raising money for CanTeen and CureKids at her website http://www.nzrun.co.nz/.
She will be stopping in towns along the way to sign copies of her book, and hopes to meet local Kiwis on her way.
Good luck Lisa, the Bookman reckons you are an inspiration to us all. He ran several marathons back in the '80's and knows the huge commitment that is required.
And it seems that The Millennium Institute in Mairangi Bay is becoming a fashionable location for book launches. Random House are next in line when they launch Fit Food Fast there Friday next week.
