7 August - 4pm Friends of the Vic - "Sunday at Four with Roger Hall"

Liven up your winter Sundays with the Friends of the Vic  'Sundays at Four' series.  Come along and hear interesting speakers talk about their lives.  Roger Hall will commence the first "Sunday at Four" with his talk entitled:
FIFTEEN YEARS TO BE AN OVERNIGHT SUCCESS

Roger Hall’s first stage play, Glide Time, opened in August 1976 and was a smash hit throughout the country playing to thousands of people, the first NZ play to achieve multiple seasons at the country’s main theatres. His second play, Middle-Age Spread, did the same but also had a long run in London’s West End.

These plays changed his life, but it took him many years before he got there. This talk outlines the many steps he took along the way. He tried several genres, and whilst every now and then he got an acceptance, during those early years there were mostly rejections.
“Fifteen Years to be Overnight Success”   covers that journey—in a talk that shows that determination and persistence is a necessary part of a writer’s life..but with a lot of laughs along the way.

Tickets $12, Concession $10  Net proceeds to the Victoria Theatre Trust Restoration Fund
