Piha Library News - Winter Series Event 1

 FULLHOUSE FOR OPENING EVENT
On Sunday afternoon, at the Piha Surf Club, we had the Library Trust's first fundraising event of: 'Writers, Readers & Rogues'.
Earlier in the week Trustees were anxious about ticket sales but all those fears dissipated when such an enthusiastic crowd started pouring through the doors and before long it was standing room only. All who attended were thoroughly entertained by:
Award winning poet, Sam Sampson, with his special way with words and style of poetry.
Dame Cath Tizard, ex Mayor of Auckland and Governor General provided all with some illuminating insights into her life during her interview with Bob Harvey. Finally Hamish Keith being interviewed by Bill Ralston with their witty repartee.
The wonderful background music was played by, our own special local musician, Helen Duder & Friends
You can see a NZ Herald Video by clicking the link below.
The feedback from the event was extremely positive and we are already working hard on making our 2nd event, on Sunday 7thAugust, even better again.
Tickets once more will be available at the Library, during opening hours, or the Campground Office. Door sales will be available.
For any further queries you can email us at: pihacommunitylibrary@gmail.com
Our thanks to all the guests who appeared on the show.
To the Piha Surf Club for their generosity and assistance.
Special thanks to all our sponsors.
