Fiction Writing, John Cranna, begins 5 September, 6pm to 9pm, two x 15-week semesters
Intended for those who want to write a novel or a collection of short stories. Students should have completed a first degree (in any subject), or have already completed an introductory fiction-writing course, or had some work published. The course is facilitated by John Cranna and is his successor to the popular Masters of Creative Writing course he founded at AUT University, which was voted Best-Taught Post Graduate Course by students in 2008.

Travel Writing and Photography, Yvonne van Dongen, begins 13 September, 6pm to 8pm, 8 weeks
Back by popular demand, and now running for an additional two weeks, this course offers insights into what travel page editors are looking for in text and images. Tutor Yvonne van Dongen is one of New Zealand's most respected travel writers and editors and has won many awards for her work. She'll be working with multi-award-winning photographer Greta Anderson, who will run two entertaining beyond-the-classroom workshops in Auckland city.

Book Publishing: The Inside Story, Geoff Walker, begins 12 October, 6-8pm, 8 weeks
How are book publishing decisions made inside a publishing house? What’s it like to work inside publishing? What does a writer need to know to get a book published? What are the challenges of the new digital age? Does it mean that the book as we know it is doomed? This stimulating 8-week course led by former Penguin New Zealand publishing director Geoff Walker is for writers, would-be editors and anybody interested in books and publishing.

The Art & Craft of Memoir, Deborah Shepard, begins 13 October, 6pm to 8.30pm, 8 weeks
If you have ever been tempted by the idea of writing your memoir but not known where to begin, this course will provide the confidence and skills to help access your creativity and writing talent. Over eight weeks we’ll cover constructing timelines, storytelling style and developing your unique voice, how to sustain momentum and maintain reader interest, structure and thematic development, the ethics of writing about significant others and much more.

Other courses coming up include Introduction to Creative Writing with John Cranna – an extra course in September after the July course was sold out.
