Faber's Tebbutt killed in Kenya

12.09.11 | Graeme Neill - The Bookseller

Faber finance director David Tebbutt is understood to be the British man shot dead in Kenya during the weekend.
Tebbutt had been with Faber since 2002 and previously was managing director of The Harvill Press and finance director of Routledge.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph last night, David Hicks, chief executive of the Book Trade Charity, paid tribute to Tebbutt, who sat on its board for a decade and twice ran the marathon in aid of the charity. He said: "He was a very good bloke, it's quite devastating. He was very dedicated to us, he was such a nice guy."
The 58 year old and his wife Judith had been staying at the Kiwayu Safari Village resort. The Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph report he was shot resisting kidnap at 4am local time yesterday (11th September) and his wife was taken hostage by gunmen.
