New Zealanders have snapped up nearly 2000 Kindle e-readers in just two weeks, with 4000 more either just arrived or on their way. New Zealand booksellers say the fast-selling reading device will change the way that Kiwis buy and read books. The slim device, which went on sale in New Zealand on August 31, has an "electronic paper" screen that simulates reading on paper.
Books can be downloaded to the Kindle from internet bookseller Amazon over a wi-fi or 3G connection.The Kindle has sold fast in the United States, where Amazon is now selling more e-books than traditional print books.
Electronics retailer Dick Smith secured rights to sell the device in New Zealand. Merchandise manager Tyson White predicted the Kindle would do for books what the iPod did for music.

The latest generation Kindle with 3G is very clever. We bought one for my mother, and set it up for her, but I didn't seriously think 3G would work, yet it did. The machine went straight to Kindle Store via the 3G network. What I don't understand, is who pays for the 3G connection? It's not the owner of the Kindle.
Another tip. We have bought all our Kindles (six now) through the same 'family' account: this allows us all to read anything bought by anyone in the family on that account from Amazon.com. (Note, not from Amazon.co.uk though: books from UK Amazon still incur a very small charge (99 cents) to load to a second machine on the same account. But books from US Amazon can be loaded to any machine on the same account for no charge).
If you could organise large groups of people with similar reading tastes, you could almost structure your own meta-library.
I've just written about my experience getting a weekly dose of news sanity via an electronic version of the Guardian newspaper. Delivered to my seat for $2.50.
I'm hoping the popularity of Kindle's might help newspaper executives to consider preparing a Kindle version.

How can i get amazon kindle books if i got kindle from usa and bring them back to use in NZ. Does amazon will detected me that ip adreess of mine have change?
