Bonnier bags Barbie rights

Bonnier Publishing has acquired the UK master publishing rights for fashion doll brand, Barbie.
In a “multi-year” deal, Bonnier Publishing has acquired the rights to publish all new titles and will launch with a range of colouring, activity and novelty formats based on the new Barbie film, "The Princess and the Popstar", which is released in August. The publisher is also planning "new innovative formats" for Christmas.
Bonnier Publishing's Australian company, The Five Mile Press, is already the master licensee for Barbie in Australia. Other brands recently acquired by Bonnier Publishing include Angelina Ballerina, Fisher Price and Olly the Little White Van.
Bonnier Publishing c.e.o. Richard Johnson said: "Barbie is the number one girls property in the UK and this key addition to our list, on top of everything else we have done in the last six months, shows our commitment to becoming the market leader in children's publishing. We are delighted to welcome Barbie to the Bonnier family."
