London’s Tate Group has launched a new e-commerce site selling books and other items available from its shops. The new website will sell items sold in the shops of the Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool and Tate St Ives, such as books, prints and gift items, with the money going towards funding for the galleries.
Chief executive officer of Tate Enterprises Laura Wright said the group is "extremely proud" of its new website and highlighted plans to expand their operation further in the future in order to continue supporting the galleries.
Eric Abensur, chief executive officer at Venda who helped design the site, said: "It's an exciting time for the Tate with the expansion of its e-store both in the UK and across the globe, and we look forward to helping it deliver further incremental revenues through its online channel."
He added that many galleries across the globe are now considering the possibility that online sales can add to their revenue and increase their market penetration.
