From the Janet Frame Eden Street Trust

May, 2012
When April ends it is time to shut the doors of 56 Eden Street for the winter. We are planning to do repairs on window sills over the coming months and the subscriptions of all the Friends of the Janet Frame House are put towards these essential maintenance tasks.  So on behalf of the JFEST Board please accept our thanks for this very practical and very necessary help which you give us.

The volunteers have pitched in cheerfully with supervision of the house over the Summer Tour season and our man Ralph is thus able to take Sundays off. He is grateful for this and sends you all his best wishes and a page of musings about what a “writerly” place Janet Frame’s old abode is proving to be.

Gifts from the community help to make the house feel good about itself.  The latest one is a mustard-coloured 1940’s sofa from relatives of Janet’s in Timaru. Dale and Allan Brooker delivered this to the house the other day and we were delighted to accept .  It fits in beautifully.

Our Trust could not achieve anything much without the gifts of your time and your largesse and we are very grateful to you all.
