DEATH BY TARTAR SAUCE: A Brave Travel Writer Encounters Gargantuan Gators, Irksome Offspring, Lost Luggage, Murderous Mayonnaise and True Love
The title of Jules Older’s new e-book is a good indication of its contents. It is a rollicking read, a hilarious romp around a number of travel destinations. The book is as jam-packed as a travel writer’s carry-on bag and as rowdy as a carload of skiers heading up the mountain. The author loves travel and language, and he invites the reader to join in his delight. His pleasure is infectious and it is easy to get carried along by his punchy personal anecdotes. We witness his breadth of travel experience from his Caribbean wedding to his swamp nightmares. He captures a sense of the place well and celebrates it in exuberant prose.
Jules Older once lived in this country and New Zealand readers will smile at a glimpse of his time here, back when the first KFC outlet opened in their city. Jules currently divides his time between San Francisco, Auckland and a multitude of travel destinations, while still finding time to make regular appearances on Radio New Zealand’s Jim Mora Show.
